Region V Training Council
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Continue
linkages with postsecondary educational institutions, local
educational agencies, community-based organizations, faith-based
organizations and other RTCs via joint planning as designated in bylaws.
2. Support
state/regional networks of literacy resource centers through
collaborative agreements and by marketing Region V Adult Literacy Center
programs on RTC calendar and website.
3. In concert with the Needs Assessment Committee and the Transfer of Learning Committee, monitor and evaluate the quality of all RVTC sponsored adult education and literacy activities using a series of needs assessments, pre-and post evaluative tools, and transfer of learning forms.
4. Provide, in concert with Training Development Committee, a minimum of five (5) professional development opportunities to a minimum of 275 participants in Region V to improve the quality of instruction provided in adult education and literacy services, and/or English literacy programs.
5.
Provide technical
assistance to providers of adult education and literacy for research
and/or data to at least five (5) individuals. Develop a request protocol for
services.
6.
Provide
technology assistance using a computer lab, software or a web space
via Blackboard (in concert with TechNet) to enable the providers to improve
the quality of such activities.

Funds for this project were provided through a Section 231 grant awarded by the Division of Community Colleges and Workforce Education, Florida Department of Education. These funds were part of the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act of 1998. Supports Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 [P.L. 88-352] which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as amended [20 U.S.C. 1681-1683 and 1685-1686] which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex. Section 504 of the Rehabilitative Act of 1973, as amended [29 U.S.C. 794], which prohibits discrimination on the basis of handicaps; and The Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended [42 U.S.C. 6101-6107], which prohibits discrimination on the basis of age. |
